Quorum is one of the largest Microsoft Partners in Scotland, as well as a Microsoft Direct Cloud Solutions Provider (CSP). We are currently looking for a self-driven Junior SQL DBA to join our team. Providing full DBA support within the SQL team, as your skills and confidence grow, you will be involved in more client projects regarding database consultancy.

The role promises a varied and interesting exposure to a broad range of database technologies including on premise SQL Server and Azure database services. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in new technology, be passionate about delivering unrivalled customer service, an efficient problem solver, and be self-motivated.

Key Responsibilities:

• Resolving database support requests directly from managed service clients using existing skills and knowledge, as well as where appropriate using relevant support and vendor resources to find a resolution.
• Proactively reviewing automated SQL alerts and responding as required through to resolution.
• Carrying out SQL Server performance reviews.
• Implementing client and internal database consulting projects as part of a team.
• System administration, hands on fixes, installation / upgrade and patching of database servers.
• Performing advanced troubleshooting with may also include working together with Microsoft and other vendors.

Key Skills:

• Proven DBA support and administration experience, ideally 1–2 years minimum experience working with SQL Server.
• Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment and deal with multiple tasks and projects as required.
• Experience in designing and building new database server environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals – both in writing and verbally.
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Desired Awareness of:

• Microsoft Azure database technologies, e.g., Azure SQL, Synapse and Fabric
• Other database technologies, e.g., Oracle or Postgress.
• SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS) and Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Previous experience of working within an IT Managed Services provider environment with multiple clients would be a benefit.
• Microsoft SQL Server / Azure Certification would be an advantage.
