We are currently seeking a highly skilled Part-Time Financial Controller to join our dynamic team in Edinburgh. As a valued member reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of Quorum by implementing best practices and executing our financial strategy. This position requires a hands-on individual who is equally comfortable diving into the nitty-gritty details as they are presenting to the board.

Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who can work 3 days a week, equivalent to 22.5 hours, although we are open to discussing various working patterns. Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing a range of financial reports, including monthly and quarterly management reporting, cash flow forecasts, budgets, and reports as requested by Directors.
  • Providing ad hoc reporting as required by the board and management team.
  • Managing the annual audit process.
  • Handling annual statutory reporting and Companies House submissions.
  • Overseeing all general ledger accounts, including payroll, VAT, cash flow management, and accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Reviewing and providing guidance for day-to-day transaction processing conducted by the Operations team.
  • Improving upon current management accounting activities through review and enhancements.
  • Delivering accurate reports and metrics to company management regarding the status of client accounts.
  • Ensuring consistency, accurate entry, and reporting on all accounts at all times.
  • Ensuring clarity of reports for all stakeholders and enabling each department to understand how its contribution impacts the overall company strategy and goals.
  • Supporting directors in monthly management meetings.
  • Maintaining systems and procedures for the efficient processing of regular financial transactions.
  • Collaborating with external tax advisors to ensure full compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Establishing an internal control framework to safeguard the business.
  • Providing ad hoc support to the board for corporate governance and compliance matters.

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, setting up, and operating business financial control processes, such as invoicing, purchase order processing, expense processing, and payroll management.
  • Proven expertise in overseeing the financial aspects of an SME, including credit control and cash flow management.
  • Proficiency in statutory reporting, encompassing VAT returns and annual accounts.
  • Extensive experience in developing a robust financial information management system.
  • Track record of effectively managing the audit process.

Qualifications Required:

  • CA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
