
Trusted IT Support for a long-time banking/financial services client’s office move.
People can often think of the things we do as “just the IT” but we’re often involved in projects that have a real impact on how a business runs. One of those came up recently, when we supported a long-time banking/financial services client through a major milestone: the relocation of their headquarters to a brand-new office. From an IT standpoint, this wasn’t just a move, it was a transformation.
Moves like this are more than logistics – they’re an opportunity to modernise, streamline, and set a foundation for the future.
Our role was to make sure the office was ready for their people to move in and get working from day one with minimal hassle. Which is a little more complicated than it sounds! Here’s how we did it:
Audit & Planning
We started with a full audit of all existing kit and services in the old office, then worked with the client on a new office design agreeing what needed to move, what should be replaced, and what should be decommissioned.
Our Project Management Office provided expert assistance throughout the lifecycle of the project, ensure a robust plan and full Project governance at all times alongside clear communications to both the stakeholders and users.
Setting Up the New
The new HQ was designed with agility in mind. We worked with the client to implement a modern networking backbone, including LAN and Wi-Fi infrastructure with fully resilient WAN connections. Everything was built to have stability and security in mind.
In addition to the network, the desktop environment was built to allow all desks to be bookable hot-desks. We deployed all the required equipment and thoroughly tested each one to ensure that users could simply sit, connect and start working.
Meeting rooms were also upgraded. We supported the client’s AV partner in rolling out Microsoft Teams Room Pro, making sure every room was tested and ready to go for productive, stress-free meetings.
Zero Disruption move day
Move day was exactly how it should be: no surprises, no downtime. Just a clean handover. Our team was onsite providing hands-on support, walking the floors, checking in with users, and quickly solving any small issues that arose.
Decommissioning the Old
Before shutting down the old office, we made sure all services were migrated properly and ran outage testing to confirm there’d be no disruption once things were switched off.
